our story

my grandfather, paulo isidoro, or izzi for short, as his american friends took to calling him after he emigrated from italy, loved bringing people together, whether over a shared conversation or a shared meal. he came from a small town in campania, in southern italy, and would ride his scooter, a cream-colored lambretta, through the rolling olive hills of san lorenzello and cerreto sannita, where our olives still grow today.

nothing made him happier than a full table, good food, and everyone he loved around it. my partner and i launched izzi doro in his memory, to keep that spirit alive.

for over a decade, my family still in italy has been sending large cans of olive oil to relatives across the us. we have loved sharing it (poured from those 5-liter cans into whatever empty glass bottles we had) with our friends over long summer dinners on our small brooklyn balcony, at the thanksgiving meals my sister cooks, or just using it for a quick midnight snack over the kitchen sink. we could never get enough of that fruity, peppery freshness, and could never find anything close at the store. so, we decided to formalize the import and to start sharing it in our new york neighborhood.

izzi doro comes from the same groves my family has harvested for eight generations. the trees get nothing but water, soil, sunlight, and love. the olives are picked by hand and milled the same day, cold extracted and left unfiltered, which is what keeps it fruity and peppery. come try it for yourself.
